🐾 Mimi’s Opinion (Unfiltered)
Mimi responds to Jon’s “after work” couch truth… and yes, she has notes.
Hi.
It’s me.
Mimi. 🐾
First of all — we need to clear something up.
You humans and we dogs?
We live very different lives.
- You go to work for 8–10 hours.
- We sleep for about 16 hours a day.
Sixteen.
Sounds amazing, right?
Let me tell you something.
It’s also very boring.
When you work from home?
That’s special.
You’re there. You move around. You make coffee. You talk.
Yes, you are often distracted by the Beeboop and the flashy light box.
But still.
It’s something.
When you leave the house?
Very different story.
You’ve had stimulation.
Conversations.
Problems.
Coffee.
We’ve had…
Silence.
Maybe a squirrel.
Possibly a mail truck.
At one point I was 83% sure we were about to get murdered.
False alarm.
Also — you have an Amazon package.
Then you come home.
You drop your backpack.
You slump into the chair.
And I think:
“Oh no. My human needs motivation.”
So I get the red ball.
It squeaks.
Nothing?
Okay.
I try faster.
Still nothing?
Strange.
You see…
You are our biggest source of entertainment and socialization.
That’s a big role.
A very important role.
But we have no idea what kind of day you had.
We only know this:
“When I get excited, you get excited.”
That’s what history has taught us.
So naturally — I must cheerlead you back into your shoes.
I have the ball.
Let’s go.
Now about this couch blog.
Um.
Yes.
I get it.
I need to learn to slow down.
But this house?
It’s SO boring sometimes.
I have energy, Jon.
All that good food?
Makes me want to dig.
Or reorganize the couch cushions.
Or test gravity with random objects.
Perfectly normal activities.
And listen.
I have off days too.
Like three months ago.
For five minutes.
It’s okay to visit Tired Town.
Just don’t build a summer home there.
Also — when you walk us?
Put one earbud in.
Keep the other ear open.
Phone in your pocket.
Rock on. Sure.
But be there.
When you’re actually present?
The walk is 1000x better.
We feel it.
You feel it.
It’s different.
It’s calmer.
It’s connected.
So yes.
We’ll practice the crate routine.
We’ll learn to settle.
We’ll build resilience.
But don’t forget something important:
We’ve been waiting all day.
And we’re just really, really happy you’re home. ❤️
Now… where’s the red ball?
